The Inspiring Stories of Three Women Named Harriet Will Unfold Before Your Eyes

With a 2,100-seat concert hall, a 400-seat theatre, an amphitheatre, a sophisticated patrons’ lounge, and a variety of indoor and outdoor meeting, rehearsal, and event spaces, the Peace Center has become the hub of cultural life in Upstate South Carolina. Built on a six-acre campus, with an energetic mix of leading-edge architecture and historic preservation, the campus is at the hub of Greenville’s nationally-recognized downtown.

To continue their tradition of great theater, the Peace Center presents The Three Harriets, which tells tells the inspiring stories of women combining history, poetry, and dance—Harriet Tubman, the most famous conductor of the underground railroad; Harriet Jacobs, who escaped from slavery and became an abolitionist, and the author of Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl; and Harriet E. Wilson, who was held as an indentured servant in the North and went on to become an important novelist, businesswoman, and religious speaker.

Through the brilliance of original poetry and choreography this performance unites themes of perseverance and courage that underscore these women’s lives. This stirring production is a collaboration of literary historian Dr. P. Gabrielle Foreman, choreographer and artistic director Dr. Lynnette Overby, and Peace Center Poet-in-Residence, Glenis Redmond.

The Three Harriets can be seen on Monday, February 4 at Gunter Theatre. This show is recommended for grade levels 5-12. Tickets are on sale now through Peace Center for just $10. You don’t want to miss out on the chance to see The Three Harriets!
